Jim, depending how much time you want to spend coding, I suggest the
following routes:

1. the hard way: look into the CDH, and write a completely custom
interface

2. the easy way: look into the Relational Views, and create a view that
has your CIE xyY sliders (possibly directly from your shader) with a
custom object view that display an object with the closest RGB
representation of the picked color. You might be able to tie the PPG
calbcks with the relatoinal view to update the view.

Ultimately #1 will give you a more controlable system, but you might be
able to get away with #2.
