Linux upgrade to latest RH 9 breaks XSI 4.0 2004-06-12 - By Henry Katz
Back Hi, I installed RH 9.0 stock CD and Nvidia NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run and had no problems using XSI 4.0. Then I upgraded to the latest RPM's using RHN. This upgraded kernel from: 2.4.20-8smp to 2.4.20-31.9smp and lots of other things. The nvidia driver needed to be reinstalled at which time it recompiled itself as there was no suitable driver it could find to match this RHN kernel. Afterwards XSI would come up but core dump. Specifically, it would come up, display the splash logo, ask which method of interaction you wanted to use ( I would remove the Softimage directory in the case that the registry was corrupt), and then blow up within a second or two. I have a core dump and a strace here <http://www.iscs-i.com/LINKS/XSI/> and all the sysinfo. Any suggestions before I reinstall RH 9.0 stock CD and start again?
