another thought, try running a script through batchserve that logs out the
workgroup path, just to be sure you've really got the workgroup set
properly. Asuming you can do this in batchserve, of course.

stating the ridiculously obvious, are you sure that batchserve is using the
correct version of Xsi?

Hi Jim, Dirtmap is packaged as an addon to start with so I guess that can't
be it unfortuantely.  Thanks though.

Try packing the dirtmap shader into an add-on, then installing the add-on in
your workgroup.  I have found that .mi files generated by XSI look for
workgroup shaders in the Addons\Application directory tree rather than the
Application directory tree.  Perhaps you are experiencing a similar
behavior.

we have 2 new XP workstations ( the rest is Win 2000 ).
I've installed 4.0 on all machines,  with dirtmap as a workgroup shader.
Everything seems fine appart from :

On the 2 XP machines, dirtmap is fine when rendering from the GUI but
when rendering on batchserve the shader is missing (replaced by the default
shader).

The log says XSI cannot register dirtmap.spdl.
