just a note though, install/register the lengthly script commands as per
normal way instead of registering with the plugin and using callbacks, as
like netview scripts, until we have undo bracketing, it requires the user to
do an undo for every command in the script, whereas a traditionaly
registered command undoes in one step. It caught me by surprise, until Rafe
and Olivier pointed out registering commands normally and  using callbacks
containing the commands rather than scripts in their entirety.

If you're setting up workgroups, Dan, it's worth taking a look at the new
plugin architecture. A plugin is simply a file you drop into the plugin
directory and it allows you to build ppgs with a good range of ui items and
sophisticated callbacks. You can also use them to install commands and
scripted ops. It makes it a whole lot easier now to maintain a custom
toolset.

pretty sure it can be a generic folder.  We made a folder on our server just
called v4_wg and pointed all the machines to that. It worked fine. We are
using local xsi installs, so no obvious place on the server anyway.

Subject: v4 Workgroup setup

Hi all, with v4 I want to finally get a workgroup set up properly.  I just
wanted to clear up a few things...

I will point every machine's workgroup path to \\server\Softimage\XSI_4.0
where the real local path on the server would be c:\Softimage\XSI_4.0 and
the Softimage folder (and all below) are shared - is this correct?  Does it
have to be the XSI location on the server or can this be any generic folder
I create for myself so long as it's shared?  Does XSI even have to be
installed?

Initial tests with this method cause XSI to hang on startup...

I have RTFM, but details are a little slim....

Thanks,

DAN
