Do not point your workgroup to your install location - I'm pretty sure that
this would cause mayhem - use a generic shared folder on a server - create XSI
_workGroup for e.g. and point all your machines to that folder, then when you
install an addon/shader whatever to that workgroup, all the machines pick it up
!!
Pointing to your install as a workgroup would probably cause XSI to register
everything twice!!!

Hi all, with v4 I want to finally get a workgroup set up properly. I just
wanted to clear up a few things...
I will point every machine's workgroup path to \\server\Softimage\XSI_4.0
where the real local path on the server would be c:\Softimage\XSI_4.0 and the
Softimage folder (and all below) are shared - is this correct? Does it have to
be the XSI location on the server or can this be any generic folder I create
for myself so long as it's shared? Does XSI even have to be installed?
Initial tests with this method cause XSI to hang on startup...
I have RTFM, but details are a little slim....
