Unless it has changed in v4, the manual is not telling the right thing.

First, you can't point a workgroup to a factory installation folder. You will
get an error if you do so.
What you have to do is to point to a shared folder. You will see that as soon
as you install something there, the add-on structure will be created. You are
then ready to go.

Cheers
Bernard

 Subject: v4 Workgroup setup

Hi all, with v4 I want to finally get a workgroup set up properly.  I just
wanted to clear up a few things...

I will point every machine's workgroup path to \\server\Softimage\XSI_4.0
where the real local path on the server would be c:\Softimage\XSI_4.0 and the
Softimage folder (and all below) are shared - is this correct?  Does it have to
be the XSI location on the server or can this be any generic folder I create
for myself so long as it's shared?  Does XSI even have to be installed?

Initial tests with this method cause XSI to hang on startup...

I have RTFM, but details are a little slim....

 Thanks,

 DAN
