XSI on a brand new laptop without COM port ? 2004-06-08 - By Bernard Lebel
Back I'm telling you, you have to do a COM port install, even with the installer. The usb-serial adapter does exactly like a serial port emulator, so you have to install the spm service using that virtual COM port.
I got headaches with that as well. At last I tried to install the license key and it suddently it worked, no more fatal error. I think you need the SPM 1252 and up for that.
Cheers Bernard
