Back I also had the chance to chat last year with someone who'd been messing with hardware acceleration; someone who was very good with this stuff. He'd been getting renders he'd been measuring in hours down to minutes. Quite a lot of specialised work had gone into this but it was interesting, nonetheless. I can see a time when it's going to be more beneficial to upgrade your graphics card than your CPU on renderfarms and with processing needs becoming less of an issue in the domestic market, this is a nice little out for those of us who still need the power.
