OGL acceleration question - RE: +++ Slower Rendering in XSI 4.0 +++

What does OGL accel. exactly speed up?

I did a test with my slower rendering scene (glossy reflections) and the
speedup with my OGL Quadro FX3000 was 9 seconds (5:13 without, 5:04 with OGL
accel.).

Is it save to use OGL accel.? I remember some glitches and strange artefacts
in an older XSI version and never touched that feature again.

By OGL acceleration, do you mean the use of the GPU of an FX400 ?
