A question for M Guy Rabiller ! 2004-06-07 - By Olivier jeannel
Back Hello Guy,
Héhéhé, depending of your POV :) I'm a complete noob at XSI, and I tried the XSI MB. 3 packets of cigarettes later, I decided to try something else. Your solution works drasticly well, even with my 1.5 version of RSMB, it produce interesting result (not accurate, but graphicaly enjoyable ). I use an XSI Adv Ent 3.5 Thanx for answering :)
Cheers !

Hello Olivier,
'tremendous' may be a little bit overstated for a shader wich just transforms 3d vectors in 2d raster space vectors :-) Anyway, thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you find it usefull.
About the screen catpures, wich version of XSI do you use ?
For the difference between ReelSmartMB and SmoothKit, at first, SmoothKit was the only one wich accept external 2d motion vectors, while ReelSmartMB computes those vectors from image motion flow.
But now ReelSmartMB accepts external motion vectors too, but with different encoding.

hello there,
I gave a shot to your tremendous plug "lm_2DMV - 2D Motion Vectors Export Shader ". First an enormous THANK YOU, because it works great and damn fast !
My question is about the Motion Blur option panel (in the Render Options panel).
I watched at the screen captures on La Maison site, and i found that I don 't have any "Shuter open" and "Shutter close" options, but only a "Shutter speed " option. Also I don't have any "Interpolation Step" options. Am I missing something ?
A second question, is about the differences between ReelSmartMB and SmoothKit. I used Reelsmart, but wanted to know if the results are different with SmoothKit ?
Thank you. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859 (See http://iso-8859.ora-code.com)-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.2800.1106" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#e9ede3> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello Guy,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Héhéhé, depending of your POV :) </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm a complete noob at XSI, and I tried the XSI MB . 3 packets of cigarettes later, I decided to try something else. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Your solution works drasticly well, even with my 1.5 version of RSMB, it produce interesting result (not accurate, but graphicaly enjoyable ).</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I use an XSI Adv Ent 3.5</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thanx for answering :)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Cheers !</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">-- -- Original Message -- -- </DIV> <DIV style="BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A title=guy@(protected) href="mailto:guy@(protected)">Guy Rabiller</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A title=XSI@(protected) href="mailto:XSI@(protected)">XSI@(protected)</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Sunday, June 06, 2004 11:20 PM</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> Re: A question for M Guy Rabiller !</DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello Olivier,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>'tremendous' may be a little bit overstated for a shader wich just transforms 3d vectors in 2d raster space vectors :-)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Anyway, thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you find it usefull.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>About the screen catpures, wich version of XSI do you use ?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>For the difference between ReelSmartMB and SmoothKit, at first, SmoothKit was the only one wich accept external 2d motion vectors, while ReelSmartMB computes those vectors from image motion flow.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>But now ReelSmartMB accepts external motion vectors too, but with different encoding.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Cheers.</FONT></DIV> <DIV>--<BR>guy rabiller | 3d technical director @ LaMaison<BR></DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">-- -- Original Message -- -- </DIV> <DIV style="BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: black"><B>From:< /B> <A title=olivier.jeannel@(protected) href="mailto:olivier.jeannel@(protected)">Olivier jeannel</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A title=XSI@(protected) href="mailto:XSI@(protected)">XSI@(protected)</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Sunday, June 06, 2004 4:11 PM</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> A question for M Guy Rabiller !</DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>hello there,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I gave a shot to your tremendous plug "<FONT face=Arial size=2>lm_2DMV - 2D Motion Vectors Export Shader</FONT> ".</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>First an enormous THANK YOU, because it works great and damn fast !</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My question is about the Motion Blur option panel (in the Render Options panel). </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I watched at the screen captures on La Maison site, and i found that </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>I don't have any "Shuter open" and "Shutter close" options, but only a "Shutter speed" option.
