Elliptical filtering - two different results 2004-06-01 - By Bernard Lebel

I have a big problem. Jobs that are sent to the farm that use elliptical filtering come out with a weird result.
Basically, it seems that the elliptical filtering is calculated in two different ways. One bunch of machines will calculate one way, another bunch will calculate another way. If the rendered frames are splitted by these groups and played back, then there is no problem, each separate sequence plays fine (other than the missing frames from the other sequence). But when combined, they result in texture flickering.
At first I suspected the clients, but the "pattern" is changing. The same machine won't calculate the elliptical filtering necessarily the same way each time. Duh.
I won't go through the list of things that I have tried to make this work, but the problem persists in every possible instance, EXCEPT when a single machine render the entire sequence. I also tried xsibatch and local rendering, to no avail. I also tried keyframing and cycling all the elliptical filtering parameters, no luck.
The only thing I haven't checked is to write frames on a different server or locally.
I'm pretty much out of ideas, any suggestion would be welcome.
