Is it possible? 2004-05-27 - By Anthony Rossano
Back what kind of tape? 150 MB is not big. DAT was the most common drive used on SGIs. I have some experience trying to use SCSI DAT drives on Windows and its not fun. Plus, the Irix tar implementation did reverse byte ordering and had bigger block sizes and stuff like that, so you really need a command line tar tool (and dd) to make it work.
here's the easiest; 1) Find someone with an SGI hanging around you can borrow. There are a LOT of them in closets.
2) Use a linux machine
3) Use a Max with OSX, it has a full command line tar implementation
4) Pay someone 50$ to do it, who has the SGI running and a DAT drive, etc. ATR
