stoopid request of the day 2004-05-25 - By adrian
Back there was this geezer called Ptolemy, who had this 'mad' notion that the solar system was a concentric series of rotating crystal spheres, each one having a planet 'trapped' half in and half outside and thus went the motion of the planets.....
now when some other arstraumerer saw a comet traveling BETWEEN the spheres, he realized Ptolemy was a fool, and told him in no uncertain terms, thus 'shattering' Ptolemy's 'crystal spheres' (can you see where this is going....?)
so 600 years later, at the very peak of human inteligence and invention, we can put a man on the moon (allegedly) we can send robot probes to within 100m of mars, we can predict the weather (?) and locate ourselves to within a couple of feet using GPS...... however.....
we can't take a simple sphere in a 3d package and blow it up!
did i miss something?
please help, i am close to commiting client-icide
HISTORY:
double skinned sphere (ie it has 'thickness') a comet has to crash thru this sphere that is all BTW if it's any consolation, tried this in Maya and it did a pizz poor job too!
