Back thanks for the advice,
after long efforts i was able to out-smart the elusive nVidia controls, or at least i hope i did ;) let's see whether it works.
re: the overrides, i still haven't found a solution to that one. as a workaround i'm currently just using the script editor to add parameters to overrides. it's a bit slow, but luckily i don't have to add hundreds of overrides.
