Christian, good to hear you found a solution. The status bar messages seem
to be the same for all WeightPaint modes, also for "smooth weight". Minor
bug it seems.

Yes, I used the displacement only to determine the weight value, I'm using
the actual weight for blending textures. Having it at 0 would be ideal, no
idea how to do that. I'll probably have to use a complete weight map.
Would considerably slow down my scripted op though.

Sam, what values do you get outside the cluster? I just picked some points,
said "make cluster", applied a WM on that cluster, then in the Rendertree,
connected Map_lookup_scalar (set to that cluster) to displacement.
