Back I've been rendermapping the dirtmap from the hair in localised areas--fast. This idea courtesy our friend the stimpster. The bounding box weirdness is just something to be aware of in case someone encounteres it in the future--falls into the glitch category for me because it makes senseless shading on the geometry.
