Actually, if you are working with XSI, you should forget about the FOV
parameter altogether, and ONLY use the FocalLength parameter
In the camera property, open the tab called "Projection Plan" and
enable the check box. set the film aperture to the values needed, and
you now have a focal length control that uses real camera values.
Remember that according to the American Cinematographer's Manual, Focal
Lengths are in mm and filmbacks are usually defined in Inches (don't
ask why, it just is, and sof follows the same convention).

While you are at it, delete the stupid camera interest, and change your
rotation order for the camera to be ZXY so that the rotation order
match a live action pivot, which is Pan,Tilt, Roll...

OO

This old chestnut again.

In order to match in XSI what you have in a real camera you need the other
parts of the equation: Aperture and Focal Length.

Assuming you have this the following equation will create a 'real' camera
for you.

(aTan ( 1/2 Aperture Width / Focal Length )) * 2 = FOV Horizontal

p.s. You need to set the aperture and focal length in the Camera PPG >
Projection Plane.

Hi List,

does anybody know of a chart/list that shows the XSI Field-of-View
compared to the ones from real Cameras ?

Thanks !
