The "cannot start thread" message indicates that you have run out of memory. While you may have a lot of memory available, it might be so fragmented that mental ray cannot find a block of sufficient size. Are you using Windows, or Linux? -- Jim Rothrock | jimr@(protected) -- -- Original Message -- -- From: Cole To: XSI@(protected) Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 8:05 AM Subject: Render Error!!
Hi list. I'm running in to a render error while rendering a rather large scene: NFO: MSG 0.n.error 011105 cannot start thread 6. Not enough storage is available to process this command
It also errors the same with thread 4, 5, and 7 as well. I have plenty of HD Space and memory. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859 (See http://iso-8859.ora-code.com)-1"> <META content="MSHTML 6.00.2800.1400" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Using windows xp-</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>4GB of memory</FONT></DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">-- -- Original Message -- -- </DIV> <DIV style="BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; FONT: 10pt arial; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A title=jimr@(protected) href="mailto:jimr@(protected)">Jim Rothrock</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>To:</B> <A title=XSI@(protected) href="mailto:XSI@(protected)">XSI@(protected)</A> </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Sent:</B> Tuesday, May 11, 2004 9:51 AM</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial"><B>Subject:</B> Re: Render Error!!</DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The "cannot start thread" message indicates that you have run out of memory.
