I was referring to color parameters of all shaders.  I thought that there was a
preferences setting that specified the number of decimal places displayed in
*all* GUI widgets.  Was this in 3.5.1?  Perhaps I am confusing XSI with Maya.

One cannot change the precision of a color parameter.  It needs to be changed
to three scalar parameters instead, each of which can have its precision
specified.
