re: maya. I've been an early user back in the Power Animator days. I think there's still some trauma lingering from instances, the multilister that took 3 minutes to display 10 shaders, all that fun stuff in 1.5.
On the other hand, yeah, even 5 *still* crashes occasionally, and so does XSI. And, frankly, I'm grateful for the occasional forced ergo-breaks during reboot, as long as I saved my file before :)
