Back If I understand right, all you need to do is to download CreateTube mel script from highend. It does most of combinations I can think of you might need.
If that's not to your liking, what you can do is make latice on an object, and then put warp on this latice with curve. This way shape of the curve will infuence lattice. Then if you transform object from out of lattice in, it will deform in curve shape. Hope this is enough for principle...
