Since you're overall lighting effects are nice and subtle, how about a fade instead of a cut between levels?

The example uses a sprite-sized 1-bit overlay and fades in and out via the camera.overlay[1].blend property.

P.S. I didn't get any errors running the game and the framerate is great (75+).
