Back Hi, There are 2 ways that I know of how you can grow a cylinder along a path. Both use history to do this. 1) your two curves, go to Surfaces-> extrude. Reset the options. Then change from "complete" to "partial" (this is what allows the growth), You'll get your extuded cylinder. Now go into the attribute editor, into the extrude history node - there make sure you have the following: -use component pivot set to component pivot -make sure use profile normal and fixed path are checked This aligns your cylinder to your curve. Also you should see that you have connections from Profile Curve and Path Curve . You need to go into Path Curve and animate the max value there. 2) The second way is using the detach curve command and extrude. Make your profile curve, go into component mode and select one of the edit points, then go into options of Edit Curves->Detach Curves and check off "keep orginal". After this operation you end up with 2 curves and your original, you can delete one of the new curves. Use the other one by going into its channel box and animating the parameter[0] under the Inputs tab to make the curve grow. Now you can extrude using this curve as your profile but make sure all the history is there. If you have any questions about this, let me know. Elvira

I assumed this would be as simple as setting up an extrusion on a path, but Length doesn't work in Tube mode. I am unaware of any way to deform an object to spline or surface using Maya's normal set of tools. I know there was a plugin written called surfaceDeformer and its on Highend3D, but it only works on Maya 3.0 and I need to do this in 5.0. Does any one know of a way to animate an extrude along a curve?
