UVs not being preserved... 2004-04-30 - By Lee Hallett
Back Are you using Polys or Nurbs models? If Polys, definitely export from XSI in .xsi format, and import into 3D max using the .xsi importer availabel (I think the link to it is on the softimage website.) It works, and works well. I use it almost everyday. The trick is to export from xsi using .xsi v3.0, and set the output as 'triangles' for the best result. All the textures are preserved. I haven.t tried NURBS, so I dont know. I hope you have a very good reason to export to max ;O)

For import/export between XSI ans MAX use the fbx plugin from Kaydara. It keep the UV info in the two directions. Guillaume Laforge www.vol2nuit.net

I am going from XSI to MAX with .obj and my UVs are being lost. I have used all options for import and export to keep them, but when i return a mesh to XSI they are lost. I messed up and needed to return to XSI, and i need the UVs... so i tried .3ds and nothing.. any ideas? -Steven Caron -Student @ AiFL
