You guys are being sarcastic, right? You must be kidding!
Maya has been playing catch up with XSI since XSI 3.0 imho.
If you look at list of features added to XSI 4.0 and compare it to Maya 6.0
list, the list in Maya is about 1/10 of the size! The development speed of
XSI largely surpasses that of Maya. Ok, so they do have Paint Effects and
Maya Fluids (hypervoxel like shading) but what about workflow ? Animation?
Innovation? Come on...
Take Rigid Bodies for instance. I use them in XSI 4.0 and they are already
much better than the ones in Maya! They got the right for the first time.
That is one thing with Softimage. They don't add features for the sake of
listing them on the feature list. When they add something it's very well
thought out, completely implemented, working with everything. You don't get
a page of limitations with each new feature that comes in XSI :-).
