Sorry for the very delayed response, but there are two tools in the latest
bonusTools pack that help with this.

1. AdjustVertexNormals - a script that gives you a UI with sliders for editing
normals.

2. VertexNormalTool - a plugin that provides a manipulator for editing the
normals.  It doesn't load with bonusTools by default.  You have to load the
plugin polyNormalManipTool.mll and then it should show up.
