At our school the new XSI and Maya versions were a hot topic of
discussion with me bringing all the news on XSI. Even our most die-hard
fan of Maya didn't take the comparison page too serioulsy. Of course he
didn't find it to be objective but he also realized that the Alias new
feature tours are even worse than a flash presentation for soft drinks.

Personally I couldn't be in a better position. In our semester we
currently learn Maya while I'm sneaking out to the XSI workstations.
It's good to have aggressive marketing that doesn't harm the company
and Softimage is on a good track, especially for finally giving all the
Maya enthusiasts a reason to look at ONE other product other than Maya.

As I'm soon getting a PC (Mac user here *g*), I will probably get the
XSI educational version, which is a really good deal to be able to work
at home, too. I would be interested in printed documentation though,
dunno if that's an option there.
