Looks Awsome!

Congrats Soft!

Can't wait to get my hands on it, now I can even upgrade to advanced!

And the extra rendering licenses...Awesome!!

I was just on CGTalk and all the M**A users are pretty disappointed with
their new release....

Hey look....they have a web browser in their interface........hmmmmmm

Way to take the lead Soft!

Simon

Subject: Softimage lowers the price of XSI, adds some free rendering and a
new entry level version....

Below are some highlights, but the entire press release can be found here if
you are interested:
http://www.xsibase.com/news.php?detail=916
<http://www.xsibase.com/news.php?detail=916>

"new version is now available in three distinct configurations: XSI
Advanced, XSI Essentials, and the new entry-level XSI Foundation." Looks
like the price of XSI isn't as high as it used to be either: "SOFTIMAGE|XSI
v.4.0 Foundation is $1,995, Essentials is $3,995 and Advanced is $8,995."

New "free" mental ray rendering. "The software delivers up to eight free
Satellite tile-based distributed rendering tokens per license, allowing
artists to take advantage of accelerated render regions or multi-CPU renders
of a single frame without purchasing additional rendering licenses."

Looks like they really put Matador inside XSI. "resolution-independent paint
tools based on the legendary Matador TM  technology."

Don't have to buy a render manager any more either... "Version 4.0 also
includes the innovative BatchServe web-based processing and rendering queue
management system."

Looks like fun.
Should be an interesting year. (as always.)
