Hey all -
hot off the wire this am;
Accel-KKR To Acquire Alias From SGI  : see the text below.

I checked the Accel-KKR web site.  Nothing else 3D related,  and the
board doesn't look like anything more than a bunch of financial
managers.
This means one thing: they think they can squeeze more revenue out of
Maya than SGI thought they could.
So, my prediction is higher costs for Maya users, probably in upgrade
costs, maybe in price rises.
I predict it all ends in tears...

Accel-KKR To Acquire Alias From SGI

15 April 2004, 09:05am ET

MENLO PARK, Calif. & TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2004--

Alias continues to pioneer innovative 3D software and services
                to entertainment and design customers

Accel-KKR and Alias(R), a Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI) company,
today announced a definitive agreement with SGI(R) under which
Accel-KKR, with participation from the management of Alias, will
acquire Alias from SGI for $57.5 million USD. Alias is the leading
provider of 3D graphics technology and services for the film, video
games, web, interactive media, automotive, industrial design, education

Alias is uniquely positioned to lead and drive future innovation and,
at the same time, make 3D technology more accessible to both
professionals and consumers. The breadth of applications for this
category of software is enormous."
