I have the shuttlepro sitting dormant in my desk.... how are you using
it for modeling and animation? I'd love some suggestions.

I have the exact same problem.  VERY annoying.  Especially considering
my
love for my Wacom (I don't get out much...so I've forged relationships
with
inanimate electronic things such as XSI and Combustion).

Try using the virtual sliders with the stylus.  XSI goes nuts.

You mentioned the Spaceball...I have yet to try it.  I use a Contour
Design
ShuttlePro v2 and it works VERY well with XSI.   I use it extensively
for
both modeling and animation.
