ludo wrote an informative technique to do this.
i think atyss has it under how i did it on xsibase.
basically:

move a point.
drag the texture projection onto the move point operator in the explorer.
nothing happens,
disable the move operator.
then you can swim away happily...

it would be nice to see something in the interface to handle this.
