Batchserve & scene refresh

Batchserve & scene refresh

2004-03-24       - By Fabrice Altman

Hi List,

We experienced 2 problems recently where different scenes submitted on
batchserve
had refresh problems on constraints and shape animation :

1/ direction constraint on eyeballs :

There was a small but visible jitter on the eyeballs of a character from
one frame to the other. It was difficult to detect if a specific
client was responsible for this but I don't think so.
Rendering the scene locally solved the problem.

2/ shape animation on curves (with geometry cluster-constrained on
them):

We have 2 different models that contain shape animation on curves.
When rendered on batchserve they both experienced refresh
problems meaning for a lot of frames the shape-weight was ignored and
the frame rendered as it was 0.
All clients randomly did this, sometimes rendering correctly, sometimes
not.
Again, rendering the scene locally solved the problem.

When a scene is acting as expected in the GUI it is difficult to
anticipate and trouble-shoot what is going to happen when submited
on the rendefarm.
Is there a way to force the refresh of a scene when loaded ?

Cheers,
F.
