Back I remember it used to be quite a piece of cake.
I think it goes soemthing like this (from memory):
DeleteObj "*.material" DeleteObj "*.cls.material"
Sorry for not being more helpful but I remember someone posted it on XSI Base, making my super long and nice OM-based script look stupid.
