Yeah, this is a bit irritating as the most commands accept branch selected
objects (if it's the problem for sure)... but you could make a clip of the base
pose (as example), place this clip in the mixer and use Clip->Select Driven
Objects each time you need this selection...
...maybe it's just a trick to be sure you are using the mixer? :)
