Mixer help

I'm trying to do some fairly basic stuff (I hope) with the mixer, but I'm
having some problems. I've set up some poses and a simple knee bend loop in
source clips. Before jumping into the mixer, I could switch between them
just fine.
In the mixer I have a top track, which is my base pose, which runs for the
length of my shot. I then mix from that into another clip and from that into
another clip etc etc. The problem I'm having is that the poses after the
first mix, appear to be an average between them and the base pose. If I
don't have the base pose running for the length of my shot, I get flipping
bone problems.

So the question is, how do I avoid this 'averaging' problem?

I've probably set this up totally wrong, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris
