Back I have to agree. Unless you have a lot of experience with XSI particles, and you have a large renderfarm it's really not a good idea. Let's not forget that even if you were I hope you have several weeks to dedicate to working it out.
These sorts of F/X are not easy to pull off, no matter what you're using.
