Passes introducing bugs and corrupting scenes...

Passes introducing bugs and corrupting scenes...

NachrichtDan, I found that merging fixes things temporarily, (well here anyway)
such as being able to move between passes again. If you try and move everything
from the old scene model back up to the new scene root it screws everything up
again...

The weird thing is until now passes and partitions had always been rock steady.
Even the dreaded clusters and overrides problem had never occurred here, we
were happily living in bliss and ignorance (well, sorta)...

Just read your post about the pass duplication... that could be it since I only
work that way (we work in Pal here, and the default NTSC setting unable to be
changed is just stupid)...

Will test and see if creating my passes from now on straight from new empty
passes changes anything...

Cheers!

 Nick...

I've actually just experienced EXACTLY the symptoms you're talking about with
3.5, as oppose to 3.5.1....it reall set me back. The odd thing is that the
corrupt scene would merge into a new scene fine, then when I tried to save that
scene it'd crash, but "Successfully Saved", then I restart XSI, recover
sequence, save again and everything's fine, scene is a few hundred KBs smaller
and away I go!!! (Apart from small fact of objects being missing from their
partitions and not even being found in the background objects partition, this I
would have to redo by hand).

Anyway the job's done now so that particular nightmare is in the past...but
it would be great for it not to happen again!

Let me know if you find anything out

We have strange behaviour here with a project where material get lost.

Since moving to 3.5.1, our last 3 projects have seen our scene files get
corrupted dramatically after doing work with passes. Delete the passes (if you
can without XSI crashing) and the bugs and defects disappear... the typical
symptons we have found are:

     - object properties disappearing in the explorer
     - nothing refreshes anymore. i.e: no changes are taken into account in
the explorer, it still displays the old info until forcing a refresh with F5.
Framing in the viewports only frames after pressing "f" and then forcing a
viewport camera move/orbit/pan/dolly/whatever
     - switching between passes crashes XSI
     - deleting passes crashes XSI

     and many more...

     Anyone else experienced this?
