Rendermaps and double-side projections 2004-02-19 - By Bernard Lebel
Back Ahhh darn.... that's what I feared. I want to bake the lighting of a scene onto the textures but never considered that issue.
Thanks! Bernard

If you have UV overlaps (like say cubic mapping) then the texture is the same for all the faces so there's no problem there, until you want to bake in some dirtmap for example, you start getting some conflicts... So lets say the cube is next to a sphere and only one side of the cube (cubic mapped) is affected by the dirtmap. You need to remove the problematic UV overlaps. If you're getting conflicts you need to fix the UVs in the TE and keep unwrapping or create a new projection all together.

Well, nothing special. I have several objects that I unwrapped and textured, and now want to rendermap them. For example, I have a table. Each leg is sitting on the same area in the TE, as it is the same for the upper and lower side of the plate, and so on. Most objects in the scene are like that.
The only solution I could up with so far (that keeps the textures) is to duplicate my objects and remove the faces I don't want to use for the rendermap.
Thanks Bernard

Woops, went a bit too quick... you mean UV overlaps... What are you trying to do exactly?
