SI3D loaded into XSI < question

SI3D loaded into XSI < question

Holy timewarps Batman!

If you need to transfer envelope information, it's best to do it in SI3D before
importing to XSI.  It's been ages since I've looked into it, but I believe
converting from Patches to polygons will preserve the weights in the later
released of SI3D (v3.9x).  If not, you can use the weightcopy, weightpaste,
weightstitch and other tools found in the Actor module (Actor > Skin >
weight____+)  to transfer the weighting assignments from Bspline patch to NURBS
surface.  Basically, you use the weightcopy tool to dump the envelope
assignments to file, convert the patches to NURBS, then use the weightpaste tool
to reload the envelope assignments onto the new NURBS surfaces.  Then save the
scene and import into XSI.  It won't be perfect, but should save a lot of time.
The NURBS should import intact into XSI - however, the SI3D NURBS will be a
little different than the native XSI NURBS when it gets into the XSI interface.
Just a heads-up in case you experience a little flakiness.  I would suggest only
doing the weightcopy/paste thing on objects which have detailed weighting
assignments.  If an object has uniform or easy to reproduce assignments, I would
advise taking the time to redo it in XSI.

Subject : >SI3D loaded into XSI< question

Hi,

we have a character setup which was done in SI3D.

Importing/loading it to XSI gives some problems with the B-Spline
patches which are now NURBS and the weighting.

If I set the B-Spline patches to 1 1 in SI3D I have something similar
what I could use in XSI subdivided when converted to polygons.

My question is:
do I have a chance to import the rigged model with all expressions, with
B-Spline patches (hull) converted to polygons and identical weighting?

dotXSI doesn't work (crash, crash ...)
SI3D scene loader works but messes up the weighting and behaviour of
converted surfaces

Any help and usefull comments I would appreciate. Thanks and greetings!
