With Combustion you will find the keyer, color corrector and tracker to
match that of the Inferno pretty much, whereas the general interface is much
different, and in some respects better and others poorer. The SGI line
Inferno and Flame is old architecture SW and while they have been updated to
solve some of the problems others persist.

Don't think of Combustion as a training ground for Inferno and Flame - I
know Combustion well but would not know my way around the two others - my
knowledge of their pros and cons come from a friend of mine who knows all
these packages intimately.

For visual effects work and compositing 3D I would choose a node based
system like FX Tree, Illusion, Digital Fusion or Shake over the Discreet
solutions any time - sitting with clients and finishing commercials is a
different story altogether and the highend Discreet systems shine here imho.

Best Regards
