I only use Samba for connecting to my laptop share vice versa from my
workstation for simple installs or file sharing.  I tried sharing projects
but Samba seems to lock scenes on linux (I think you had the same issue not
so long ago) NFS seems to be the way to go for now.

Do you get the same if you mount the share like so? ( mount -t smbfs etc....)
