that would be bug#7345937: women with selective backlight and no eyeballs
causes strange raycasting (or whatever).

It's not really a bug. Dominique used the woman with an selective backlight
and forgot the eyeballs.
But 3.5.1.1 handles it different ...

Logoff and back to work ...

- does your light(s) actually cast shadows?  yes, 2 the main light and one
from behind. but even if i turn them off the spot on the nose appears.
- where is the main light placed exactly  the main light on the top from the
left(her right), one from the top behind on the left (her right), both cast
shadows.
                                                           one point with
no shadows from below
- is there another light behind the head?  see above

Probably the eye is not 100% solid and a shadow light from behind is
responsible for that if the head is not completed behind.  good idea, but no
that's not it.
and i found out that if i turn the eyeball to a lambert the thing is gone.
so, it has to do something with the specular. but since there are no
caustics or anything....
i'm sort of lost. ????????????????????

Just an idea.

Subject: strange raycasting (or whatever) thing?

hello boys and girls.
<<<<<sorry for huge the pictures>>>>>>>>>

something strange happening here and i sort of tried everything, maybe
someone had stuff like this, too.

we have got this:
which is not acceptable.

the only way (after checking ALL the textures and ALL the lights) i got rid
of this, was:
which is kind of right, if the eye wasn't hidden.

now, there are no caustics, no FG, no nothing in this scene.

how come this eye is causing this effects and (funny thing) NOT causing this
effect on the other side of the nose, where the eye is the same.
the only difference is the mainlight is on this side of the woman. ?????????
the lights are area lights, but even when turning them off this happens.

maybe i'm just dumb but i checked everything i know off.

any help would be appreciated.

thanx,

FLINX
