Even though you're working in immediate mode, the fact that your machine is
slowing right down, suggests that something is building up to breaking
point. So maybe hitting freeze now and then will help?
Have you actually tried this and found the machine still slows down or
crashes?

Chris, Patrick, Takayuki, freezing the model isn't the solution. This
happens while I
am working in immediate mode, on a model with no operators applied to it.
Anyone else?
