Good Morning Kris,

Thanks for your reply. I will certainly add your method as well. It is good to
know that the methods found are interchangeable too yet, each can be utilized
in portion or fully depending on a users choice and of course the demands of
the object design. The quality of tS. is that this is a norm and not an
exception.

1): the 250 bounce occurs with the yahoo editor as well.

2): Kris wrote: "At the same time, I've also been playing a lot with the Fillet
<?> tool, which is an intereting thing as well."

With the cube you can control the fillet along the edges and the corners as
well. It is a bit tricky to get the magic ring to proportion initially but
skill takes practice.

Here are a few suggestions amongst many more that may be considered when using
the magic ring with a hollow cube.

Right Clicking on the gold portion of the magic ring with left or right up or
down drags controls the following. Varying degrees of motion effect the degree
of change.

Effects:
1): Top of hollow cube flat with rounded vertical edges.
2): Top of hollow cube rounded with rounded vertical edges
3): Top of hollow cube rounded with square edges
4): Top of hollow cube flat with triangle edges.

In general other effects.  Horizontal and vertical edges and facings. Depending
on the object you are constructing these simple lines (which are moveable) may
save a step or two from point editing.  Segmenting for inner or outer object
subtraction and interchanging inner and outer objects with or without the torus
.

Good luck and towards money making projects.

Thanks for the exchange

David

figure out how to insert reply in between quotes.  Plus I keep getting mails
bounced by the list because they supposedly exceed 250 lines - might be
something outlook is doing?  I've had to cut out all quoted text...

At any rate:

As David noted, the Magic Ring funtions are interesting and can be very useful.
I use them for more complex details that I'll add to buildings, but I think it
'd be ionteresting to try out his Hollow Cube method.

One thing about modeling buildings is that I'm generally not satisfied with the
razor-sharp edges that one gets from the using the stright cube as a starting
point - in the real world, even the hardest edges are still not razor-sharp.
David's method might be a way to remedy that, so he's given me some ideas to
try.

At the same time, I've also been playing a lot with the Fillet <?> tool, which
is an intereting thing as well.

One would think that modeling buildings might be boring as opposed to modeling
characters, but I have yet to find it so <G!>  It seems there is always
something new to try ;) .   ((Like, I keep hoping I'll eventually get good
enough at it to try to earn a few $$ doing it <G!> ))  But I've in no way
exhausted the possibilities of the Magic Ring.

Another interesting thing is to combine MR objects with Mesh Forge.  Neat way
to make sculptural shapes, vases, and the like ;) .

Later,

- Kris
