Game Level Design Issues 2005-07-05 - By Kris Krieger
Back For simple cubes, try just copying the original "room sized" cube, using Object Properties boxes to subtract desired wall thickness from the original size, and boolean Subtrct the smaller cube from the larger.
I always do that and have not had problems with extra faces. I reserve Shell for the relatively-rare unusually-shaped objects that aren't so easily resizable and use simple Boolean Subtraction whenever possible (i.e. most of the time).
Let me know if you need additional details.
HTH!
