Some other techniques: While working with the above tools selections workspace
state. 1): right click the color cube to bring up the color shaders and bring
up the materials library and assign materials whereupon rightclicking the
transparancy glow box you will display the transparancy shaders box. Adjust as
required

There are still other combinations that should suit your requirements as well

Dave, thanks for the input.

But now I have another question: can someone please teel me how to set
different display options for individual objects? I want to model clothing
around a figure, so I want the figure to be semi-transparent whiel the clothing
is in solid display mode.

Thanks a stack!

Cobus

<DIV>Hello list :</DIV>

<DIV>There seems to be many ways to do this and some are more articulate than

<DIV>The materials library and the materials shaders can be used here to get

edit mode but display the effects in object render mode.</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>I have described a simple method which works in edit mode and resolves to
render mode </DIV>
<DIV>Here it is again in step form. Using default or reset all state of the
materials editor.</DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>From a default state: and a regular grayed object selected&nbsp;1): open
material editor, look at the&nbsp;title bar for a blue ball.&nbsp; 2): If you
hover over it with the mouse it says" Transparancy none"</DIV>
<DIV>hold the left mousebutton down on it to bring up the other hidden options.
3): select transparancy to invoke its mode. 4): At the bottom of the colors box
a new slider bar will come into view. here you can adjust the level of
transparancy while in edit mode and will maintain the level when you render. 5)
: If you right click on this slider bar you will display a shader attributes
control box. here you can fine tune further the effect.</DIV>
