Idea #2
Recap here:
Concept on stitching material should be thin like plastic or (fishing line) of
a certain thickness.
The thickness of the fishing line should be determined by the type of skin.
Thick skin slighty thicker line , thin skin slightly thicker.  Go figure

Use an angular needle of (a certain thickness) relative to the skins. The
contours of the face make a difference as well so use the contours get the
snuggness using the fishing line and needling.

Now, with the stitching under the skin compressing the skin to the mask there
is one more problem to address. Here's idea #2

This leaves the masks edges to have some type of edging which can tear off.
This may or not be what you want.   If you are looking for a snugg fit then use
some type of elastic stitching
looped in such a fashion that the mask compresses the face at various contour
points of the face. Use either the bulges or the dips to accentuate the
reaction of tension given elasticity of the threading used. You can use wet
leather and allow it to dry. Leather shrinks somewhat
when dried.

Using a combination of leather dynamics, stitching material, placement of
stitchng within
the contours of the face should resolve to a snug fit which works with the face
and can
stand a little tension of everyday life.

It is interesting how the dynamics of various types of materials can in affect
assist with duplicating nature.

My Great Uncle stitched and made sails in the old old days and I too have had a
hand to it.

Hope the ideas help

Hey everyone. I'm having kind of a modelers block I guess. I want to have

screws or some kind of leather or string? Any ideas?

I've tried stitches, but they are so small they are not really vizable farther
away.

I've thought of screws, but, would that make sense at all - I really wouldn't
see how that could be realistic, maybe it doesn't have to be?

I think the idea I have been leaning toward, is using leather straps in an X
shape and positioning them around the face plate. Really though, wouldn't that
tear through the flesh. Again, maybe it doesn't matter.

I'm looking for some suggestions. I have spent a lot of time looking at other
characters, trying to come up with my own creative way to make it look like the
face plate has replaced the lower half of his face. If only I wasn't having a
creative block.
