Matt,

Instead of remapping in trueSpace, try doing it in UVMapper.  Select
"Edit > New UV Map > Spherical".  The default settings should do a
pretty good job for you.

The image you posted has facets that are mapped backwards near the
bottom.  Not sure what's happening at the top and left.

Also, be sure you're using the LUUV plugin because I believe trueSpace
ignores UV coordinates in Wavefront .obj models - "it's an unsupported
feature" =P
