Nurbs vs Polygon modeling - Better, or equal-but-different? 2005-05-19 - By Matthew Chan
Back Never say never, A perfectly (as close as possible) round sphere can be modeled with nurbs with a single click. While a polygonal sphere will likely need some extra clicks to increase the number of subdivisions. Nurbs excels particularly with objects which requires the curvature to stay smooth at all resolutions. With modern modeling toolsets, there isn't much difference between the two, only minor disadvantages. Try out nurbs a bit more if you have the time, it can be rewarding. That said, I enjoy using polygons and subdivision surfaces more :) There's something comfortable with using the polygonal tools which I wasn't able to find with the nurbs tools. Each to their own :)
