New newsletter (tS7) - Might be a dopey Q. but...

There are actually three technologies being talked about on the list here:
Dual Processor - two physical processor dies each within it's own CPU
Dual Core - two physical processor dies inside a single CPU
Cell technology - highly scalable with multiple processor dies inside a
single CPU

Just think about this for a second:
A dual processor motherboard that supports dual core processors with
hyperthreading.
Two Physical CPUs, Two processor cores on each CPU, Hyperthreading
technology.
To the windows operating system, this would appear as 8 processors, all in
one box.

The question I have is whether or not XP Pro will run with this
configuration, or if you will need Server.
I think that XP Pro supports 2 processors with hyperthreading enabled (4
logical cpus). Will it support two dual core processors (4 discreet CPU's)?

IMHO, the dual core Opteron processor is superior to its Intel counterpart
due to how it handles cache requests and other internal architecture.

As for Dual-Dual boards, take a look at:

Try : the various motherboard and cpu sites. Lots of details there.
www. JNCS.com is another place to look.

You don't have to be a gamer to use hard and fast hardware.
Hard and Fast hardware applys to the good use of TrueSpace too
in many ways..

In general
I was referring to a board which had more than one processor. Also to this
I was thinking of possible technology. It makes sense to me.  I think you
may
have been referring to multithreading. It is code which commands the
processor
time to do certain tasks. There are variations on its implementaion. This
was
why I suggested a Truespace to take over XP or other O.S. It means finer
action
between the application and the processor. However, the action may be good
enough as it is.  R.&D. advances.

Thanks for posting , interesting

P.S. If I find the board I will post the location of where to find it.

David
